Honors Pre-Calculus / Beginning Calculus

Pre-Calculus (MPS21H-MPS22H)

This one-semester course is a continuation of the algebraic concepts learned in Algebra II/Trigonometry. Topics include sequences and series, polynomial functions, and conic sections.

Material taught in the first term of this course is very similar to that taught in the first term of Advanced Algebra, but it is taught more rigorously.

Prerequisite: More than an 80% average in Math and in Algebra II/Trigonometry

Notes:
  1. Most students who begin the year in Pre-Calculus take the next course in this honors sequence, Beginning Calculus. These two courses prepare student for AP Calculus (AB or BC).
  2. Some students may opt to take a second semester of Pre-Calculus (MN2HMEA), before continuing on to study Calculus Applications for Business and the Social Sciences, or AP Statistics, in their senior year.
