The mission of the Townsend Harris High School library is to act as a hub for personal enrichment. The school library media program helps students become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. The school librarian collaborates with administrators, teachers, and community members to empower students.

The mission of the Townsend Harris High School library is to act as a hub for personal enrichment. The school library media program helps students become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. The school librarian collaborates with administrators, teachers, and community members to empower students.
A pillar of our library media center is our diverse collection of resources. The collection is not only diverse in formats, but represents diverse perspectives as well. Maintaining such a collection of resources provides students with information, ideas, and tools they can use to “draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create [and share] new knowledge (American Library Association (ALA), 2007).”
