2014 Glammy Scholarship Awards
On June 7th, 2014, THHS GG Chapter Co-President Mi Jin Park and Rally Girl Crystal Harrilall were Glammy Scholarship Award Winners for their exemplary service in ending elder loneliness in their community.
Both Mi Jin and Crystal were honored for their commitment to Glamour Gals and their community.
Mi Jin: "I cherish my time with Diana. A 4' 10" woman with white visible roots, with the warmest smile, she instills an image of what my grandmother could have looked like. The once immovable lips gradually formed a small corner. Words turned into phrases, which stretched into sentences. She shared personal stories that she could not tell others, not even her friends at the center. She told me she was lonely. She's afraid of losing herself one day. She did not want to be there, but she had no choice. I became her listener, her companion."
Crystal: "Glamour Gals reminds the community that there are people out there who need a little uplifting now and again. One day we're going to be older and feel forgotten, so taking that into consideration it makes us think about how we would feel. Volunteering gives us a chance to right that wrong and ensure that every person feels remembered."
