Macaulay Honors College at CUNY
The Macaulay Honors College provides outstanding educational opportunities for academically gifted students from the five boroughs of New York City and beyond. Its program is designed for students who have demonstrated scholastic strength and broad intellectual curiosity through their high school academic records, standardized test scores, extracurricular involvements and other academic criteria.
 
This program is designed for high achieving high school students who have demonstrated an ability to be successful in a rigorous academic environment. This highly competitive program is available at the following CUNY Senior College Campuses:

❖ Brooklyn College
❖ City College
❖ Hunter College
❖ John Jay College
❖ Lehman College
❖ Queens College
❖ College of Staten Island

Macaulay Honors College chooses candidates for admission by evaluating a combination of academic and leadership factors, including:

❖ High school grades
❖ Extracurricular activities
❖ Community Service
❖ Personal initiative & leadership qualities
❖ Recommendations
❖ Essays
❖ Interviews

What is needed for the application:

❖ Official high school transcripts
❖ SAT or ACT scores (optional for applications in the next two years)
❖ Two academic letters of recommendation
❖ Two essays

Cultural Passport Macaulay Honors College students take advantage of New York’s rich cultural and intellectual resources. A unique “Cultural Passport” gives Macaulay students free (or greatly reduced) entrance to many of New York’s cultural landmarks and educational institutions where students extend classroom learning into primary resources---plays, museums, interactive exhibits, and much more. Study abroad, internship, and service experiences are critical co-curricular activities for Macaulay students. Research opportunities and student-alumni mentoring are also available to students.
 
**There is no early decision for Macaulay Honors College
