hi Harris I want to show you some really cool things about ebooks how many of you have been dying to read and can't get to the library either a because they have been closed for so long or just because you don't have the time to get to a library space well those days of not being able to get a book from the library is over I want to show you it is in the reading app for ebooks and audiobooks that's connected to Townsend Harris High School in New York City Public Schools Townsend Harris just got about a hundred and 30 or so ebook for your for you to use I'm looking forward to hearing about what you think of Sora and e-books and if there any books you like the library to purchase just let me but let me show you how to access the ebooks now there are a couple of ways and this is one way you can also access to ebooks it through the Townsend Harris High School library catalog I will say hi to do also but first I want you to download the app and you can download the app for your phone or your tablet or for your computer on the app on the computer is web-based so right now I'm at the store app which is Sora app.com and we're going to connect it to your school account and I know this is a little convoluted and I'm sorry so after you get to the store app. side you're going to skip the find my school and you're going to go to I have a setup code and you're going to click here in you're going to type in New York City I believe that's the code New York City schools and you're going to sign into your school sign in using New York City Department of Education and you're going to click care your New York City Department of Education credentials which is you're at school. Net email address for me is a little different because I am a teacher can also access as well so I'm going to access it with my New York City credentials remember teachers are different than students so well mine said that schools that NYC that she yours is but I believe says at schools.net make sure you use the proper email and then I'm going to put in my password and then I click sign in and I don't save my password right now and here I am in these are the ebooks that you as a Townsend Harris high school student have access to you scroll down right now it's broken up into subject areas and then you have ya materials there are also juvenile fiction if you have younger siblings that you want to borrow books from read along Sundays are also for younger students you could take a look at and you also have your the classics and books that are available now you're awesome new e-books down here are audiobook are most popular and your neck straight read now right now our collection is not overly law but we do have some really good books that you can read I want to show you a couple of things right so I'm going to type in even though it was at the bottom and then do a search for a book and I'm going to search the hate U give which is an e-book and I'm going to click here now this is the one with the title and this I was trying to you know might be on the same subject as the hate you give now before you borrow book it's really really important because we do have limited ebooks and I'm not trying to tell you not to borrow books but if not sure if this is a book you want to read right click resample when you beep when you click to read the sample you see here it is I believe it's 26 pages that you get to look at I'm on a laptop right now so my screen is kind of small but on a tablet device it looks just like a regular book so I want you to understand that as well I lost my mouse on my page right so here is what happened when it happens and here know some really cool things and I don't know if I can do it here but I do know my tablet is so I can change the size of the font I can make it bigger or smaller later for this and I can read the preview of this book to determine what not it is a book I would like to borrow I go back here and then I can borrow from here by click borrow the book is I have borrowed the book I can think the book across devices so I start reading on my computer and I continue reading on my tablet it will be on the right page hey I can look at one page at a time or two page spread I can search the book for terms if I want to look for a specific spot in the book that I remember rate I can also bookmarks ear with the little bookmark that you know this is my favorite scene so I can hold that page there and it will save and if I if and when I return the book and Arie borrow it that information will be safe at my store accounts Google street there right in here I could do search chapters my reading settings right so here I can change the lighting is bright idea. What is the change in the background here dark mixing may be easier on my eyes or high contrast text Gail it's change the I can download the book to my device give it tells me when the book is due one of the best things one of the best things about ebooks and audiobooks that are digital is that when the book is do it automatically returns you don't have to worry about getting late fees so in 13 days of I forget that I have this book and I don't return it in 13 days put back on the Shelf we have some books that are unlimited e-books and unlimited audiobooks means that doesn't matter how many students went to read them they can all be dim at the same time or we have books like it's I have borrowed so no one else will be able to borrow it until I return it so when you're finished please return it as soon as you're done if you can if you need it for the assignment and you need to keep it for the couple more days but when you're finished just sold to have for other people to use their they can use it that way to return a book I am looking here's my shelf because of the books I have out I often did we go I could renew it I can return it I could send it to my device I can mark it that I finished it I can take a note in this box you can do that within the book you play around here are some details about the book and I am finished with this book I would love it if some of you guys Reddit so I am going to return it and I clicked there and then I click return now I return the book early I got a little achievement I click okay you can put books on hold right if the book isn't available you can put a book on hold you can create list list that you want to read list of great books list of books that you didn't like and you can see your history you can turn around and look at 6 write a book six months ago I don't remember the name of it I'd love to read it again and you can see a list of the books that you borrowed happy reading to you all please remember that if there are books that you want the library to purchase are there any books audiobooks or physical books when we get back into the school building just let me know there is a forum on the school's website that take you 2 seconds to fill out and you can be my dog start working right now so I want everybody's do have a great day and happy reading
