Many of you have been having difficulty because you are working from home and do not have access to Queens College Databases like you would in the building. Have you searched Google Scholar for academic articles and only come across the abstract? Do not despair, use the Ask A Librarian Form or your Townsend Harris email to send me a request. Make sure you include the complete citation.

hi Iris Seitz this is mrs. Liberty here to show you how to access some scholarly articles don't with the fact that 90% of students working from home that means the majority of you don't have access to Queens College Library I know in the past for your science research for your social science research and for your literature classes you've relied heavily on Queens College access to their databases well there are a variety of ways to get articles and I'm business of little bitty old face so you one way I'm going to post a couple of other videos on the library website and I'll send them out to your email as well of other ways to get scholarly articles now I know all of you are familiar with Google Scholar right and one of the biggest issues when it comes to Google Scholar is the fact that a lot of these articles are behind paywall so I just did a random search of the legalization of marijuana in Google Scholar I need to see the nih.gov those articles are available for free but if you scroll down and you see this one the Reefer Madness to marijuana legalization media exposure and American attitudes towards marijuana by click on it see that it's in the Journal of drug and issues here's the article and here's the abstract right but the big problem is is access options unfortunately you don't have these options available to you right now and I purchased 24 hours of access to this article is $37.50 no one should be purchasing access to articles so I'm going to show you how you can get articles so let's say you need this for your assignment for your research for your paper or whatever it is that you're doing what you're going to do next you're going to open up either a your email browser or B going to go to the library speech which I'm already on you're going to click on the ask a librarian form and you're going to fill out your name and all this information and you going to type your question here and what you're going to put going to put the title of the article the authors of the article that they took was published and the day right basically you're going to copy paste this information into an email and you going to send it to me actually even better you can come over here to the site and even see it behind my head you're going to click the site and you're going to copy the entire citation right copy to the clipboard paste it into an e or paste it into the ask the librarian form and you're going to ask me to find the full text article for you I want to let you know that the majority of the articles I am able to find because I have access to College library and they also have access to some other libraries as well that you don't have access to I will be happy to find these articles for you download them and email them to you for your school work so please don't be afraid to ask me for my house that's what I'm here for don't forget me just shoot me an email if you need anything else that's the best way to get in touch with me have a great day
