Do you need access to literary criticism for your humanities classes? If you have a NYPL library card you have access to tons. Watch this quick video to learn how to access the literary databases of NYPL.

so weird parasites I have no idea if this is going to record correctly because for some reason my screen is acting strange but with that said let's see I know a lot of you have been having difficulty with getting articles because Queens College library itself is closed right now to are students as well as tell Daenerys most of you guys are working remotely so I want to show you some other ways to get information this this video is going to be specifically about literary criticism right access literary criticism and you going to need literary criticism for AP Lit AP AP language English a class where you're going to be asked to write essays about literature you're probably going to need access to some literary criticism so the process isn't really horrible but there's a multi click process it's easy to get a little lost I'm so I'm going to show you how to get to the literary criticism you will need a New York public library card number and you will need a PIN number there is a video in the library website that shows you how to get a New York public library card for free remotely you don't have to go to the branch to get it so make sure you have a New York public library card that's Manhattan and that Milan library card you don't have to live there to get the card or you have to do is be a New York state resident now let's go back to getting some literary criticism you going to start at the Townsend Harris website you going to go to the academic section you're going to click on Library it's going to take you to the library page then you're going to scroll down a bit and you're going to go to databases when you get to database where's my face is going to be covering them you going to scroll down and you're going to click on New York Public Library and it's going to take you to the New York Public Library website and I'm going to sneeze is me so when you get to the New York Public Library website you're going to click on Research and then when you get there scroll down and on the right hand side of the screen there is a link called articles and databases click on that and then I'll see you again I'm so sorry no New York Public Library you have access to 836 different resources that they subscribes you and if you look at the legend here you see a little lion that means that that lion is you can only access the database in the library so these are no good for you right now the one with the Wheelhouse means you can access them with your library card barcode number and pin and the globe is anywhere in it's a free web resource will anywhere in the world where you live internet you can get it and the ones with the star are the top recommended databases in the subject now little literary criticism is available through literature Resource Center also available to jstor but I want to show you you can go here and click subjects or you can go alphabetically I'm going two subjects and I'm going to scroll down and I'm going to find literature English and American literature I'm going to school down some look like language and literature I can switch them all and then I can go to specific language literature and I'm going to go find why can't move my face there are a hundred and forty-one different databases that deal with literature right literature criticism line you need your barcode and it's recommended literature online or cottam recommended fridge for resource center for coding recommended right so I'm going to show you two of them I will show you the Richer criticism online I'm going to send to your please enter your library barcode number and pin in order to access database here's my barcode here's my pin I click login and this is Gail literature criticism online you got various topics you've got popular Works popular authors and then you can just search what you need to search let's say I was going to search The Great Gatsby I clicked in Great Gatsby X Nick and here is an review of the work quick facts about the work here is topics related to the great gaps be featured criticism these are the ones that Gail has pulled out for you but then you see there's four hundred in eleven different criticisms here keep scrolling right I can see all my criticisms here I can look and see if I can read more about The Great Gatsby so you have at your fingertips literary criticism just like you would if you were in Townsend Harris High School accessing Queens College databases I do want to show you very quickly I can go back to my library menu here at the zoo hamburger or I can go back and just go back and go back to my list I can go to the Gale literature Resource Center I want to show you this one as well I can click that and when you click their literature Resource Center it takes you to the entire product menu you can scroll down and you can see they have a resource called books and authors Gale ebook let's see gay literature Resource Center gay literature dictionary of literary biography Gail literature something about the author Gail literature book review index contemporary authors the tween series was over there is a ton I just showed you the gay literature criticism it was a ton of literary criticism and information in the database let's look at the Gale literature Resource Center very quickly and same thing featured author featured work write a topic finder and up here I'm going to go back and going to church again The Great Gatsby novel and you'll see there's a hundred and ninety six different criticisms year 72 graffiti are topic and work overview Seer reviews and news primary source of literary works and multimedia and you scroll down right now or in literary criticism biographies talks about F Scott Fitzgerald and key players topic and work overviews an overview of The Great Gatsby modernism writers of The Lost Generation and then you can look at reviews and news primary source in literary work and multimedia and multimedia is could be audio could be video could be a combination could be transcripts of audio and video I think a lot of you don't like listen to it broadcast Blake hear some of it is transcript audio file book review audiophile if you're looking for work on on criticism or reviews or information about authors in the literature field these are great databases for you to use don't forget there's tons of others I'm just showing you the literature ones if you scroll through you can see their others in other topic areas don't think because we're not in school and you don't have access to Queens College databases
